FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Q. I have several videotapes and I do not know what’s on them. What can I do?

    A. You may arrange to use one of our systems to view your tapes at no charge.

  • Q. I do not know how long each video is. How can I estimate the cost for my transfer?

    A. We check your videotapes and estimate the total “live” video. Once we know the total “live” video on each tape, we can provide an estimate of the total cost. Note: estimates are provided by request only.

  • Q. I have damaged videotapes. Can they be transferred?

    A. Possibly.  We inspect your videotapes for any visible damage. We will contact you if we feel we can fix the damage and transfer your videotape to a digital format.

  • Q. Some of my videotapes contain video recorded from a TV. Will those videos be transferred?

    A. In general we do not transfer TV shows unless you request it. The exception is when the recorded TV show has family videos before and after it. In those cases, we will transfer the TV show(s) as well.

  • Q. I have several videotapes I purchased. Can I transfer those to DVD?

    A. We do not transfer copyrighted material.

  • Q. Some of my videotapes are longer than 2 hours. Can they be recorded on a single DVD?

    A. Yes. We normally record your DVD in a 2-hour (SP) format. This is in order to maintain the best choice of quality and efficiency. We can use a 4-hour (LP) format or a 6-hour (SLP) format. Recording more than 2-hours on a DVD requires additional levels of video compression. In general, the higher the level of video compression the greater the chances of having playback issues such as skipping and freezing frames. The choice is ultimately yours.

  • Q. Can I get extra copies of my DVDs?

    A. Yes. We charge $10 per DVD copy.

  • Q. Can I get my videotapes transferred to a flash drive or a portable hard drive?

    A. Yes. We charge $10 per DVD transferred. You may supply your own flash drive or purchase one from us.
